A quick look at Pinterest will reveal that thousands of couples have forgone the traditional church wedding in favor of more rustic venues, especially barns. While getting married in a barn may seem odd to some, especially those who adhere to the more traditional wedding ceremony, we here at Howe Farms believe that a barn is a perfect place to get married. In today’s post, we are going to go over some of the reasons why barns are such popular venues and why, in our opinion, our barns are the perfect setting for your perfect day.
Barns Offer a Blank Canvas
Across the board, couples are looking for wedding venues that they can transform to reflect their specific taste and vision. With their neutral color 
scheme, natural walls and floors, and ample room for decorating, barns have become a preferred choice among couples because they can design their perfect wedding setting without having to worry about things clashing with a present design element. Think of it this way, if a couple has their ceremony in a church, they have to take care not to pick any decorations that are going to clash with the churches already established aesthetic. This leads to couples having to make compromises on their special day and, in some cases, can completely derail the decorative plans that the couple may have had in mind. Barns, on the other hand, offer a versatile canvas for couples to decorate as they see fit. Barns can be dressed up to look fancy, left in their natural state for a more rustic feel, or anything in between.

Usually situated on an old farm, or the land where an old farm used to be, barns provide a rural setting that cannot be matched by more traditional church venues. For example, both of our barns are surrounded by rolling hills and lush farmland, creating the perfect backdrop for photos.
Something Out of the Ordinary
An increasing trend among weddings is wanting to do something that is a little bit different. 50 years ago, it was an unwritten rule that a wedding had to take place in a church. Today, that rule is less and less applicable to couples. When you choose a barn as your wedding venue, you are choosing a setting that goes against the traditional expectations of a wedding, providing your guests an experience that they will always remember.
